vScription VR Getting Started

Requirements and Other Notes

The vScription VR Chrome extension was developed specifically for use in Linux environments. However, the extension is tested under OS X and Windows and should work the same under any OS that runs Chrome. Since it is a Chrome extension, it was developed with Web Based EMRs in mind and we use OpenEMR and LibreEMR for testing although it should work under any web based EMR or application. Note that the site you are using vScription VR with MUST be a secured site that uses https. Chrome will not allow microphone access for sites that aren’t SSL secured. The easiest way to check this is if the website address starts with https://, you are good to go.

You will need a high quality microphone for the best recognition accuracy. You can also use your iPhone as a wireless microphone. This works great if you are running multiple exam rooms. More information on how this works can be found in the documentation.
